gov-workflow-automator

Automate civil-service and government agency workflows including procurement forms, compliance reporting, budget approvals, and policy documentation. Use when: (1) generating or filling standard government procurement forms (e.g. GSA, SAM.gov, FedRAMP artefacts), (2) automating repetitive civil-service reporting pipelines (daily/weekly/monthly reports), (3) producing audit trails and compliance logs required for FedRAMP, FISMA, or NIST 800-53 controls, (4) orchestrating multi-step government document workflows with approvals and version history, (5) any enterprise/government agency task requiring structured, auditable automation at scale. Targets FedRAMP High environments and USDA-style deployments.

Government Workflow Automator

Automates structured, auditable workflows for government agencies and civil-service environments. Designed for FedRAMP High compliance, FISMA, and NIST 800-53 control families.

Workflow

1. **Identify workflow type** — procurement, reporting, audit, or approval (see `references/workflow-types.md`)

2. **Load the correct template** from `references/templates.md`

3. **Run `scripts/gov_workflow.py`** with the appropriate `--mode` flag

4. **Validate output** — confirm all required fields are populated and audit log written

5. **Export** to PDF/CSV/JSON as required by the receiving system

Quick Start

```bash
python3 scripts/gov_workflow.py --mode procurement --input data.json --output output/
python3 scripts/gov_workflow.py --mode report --template weekly --output output/
python3 scripts/gov_workflow.py --mode audit-log --days 30 --output output/
```

Key Parameters

| Flag | Description | Example |

|------|-------------|---------|

| `--mode` | Workflow type: `procurement`, `report`, `audit-log`, `approval` | `--mode procurement` |

| `--template` | Named template from references/templates.md | `--template weekly` |

| `--input` | JSON data file to hydrate template | `--input data.json` |

| `--output` | Output directory | `--output ./output` |

| `--agency` | Agency code for header stamping | `--agency USDA` |

| `--fedramp` | Enable FedRAMP High audit fields | `--fedramp` |

| `--dry-run` | Validate without writing files | `--dry-run` |

Compliance Notes

→ All outputs include an immutable audit trail entry (timestamp, operator, hash)

→ FedRAMP High mode enforces mandatory fields per NIST 800-53 Rev 5 AC, AU, CM controls

→ Never include PII in audit log fields — use masked identifiers

→ See `references/compliance.md` for control mapping details
